I heard my grandma and my mom talked about Walgreens today and they seemed so concerned about it. It also provides measures to help its members save money by giving them big discounts on medication and some of its services. They made this possible by giving an amazing discount in January, in the yearly membership fees for individual and family plans under the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club.

I'm sure we cannot deny the fact that Walgreens is really doing a great job in serving the citizens in this country by making sure they are provided high quality medication prescription services that we all deserve. We had a blast when we visited my mom's former office yesterday to see tickets to the play "Alamat" to mom's former officemates and friends. We were so excited to see people who became close to us since we were kids. Mom used to take us with her on special occasions at work so we got to know her friends too. We consider them our "titos" and "titas" and i guess they were also excited to see us. They could not believe how we have grown big, lol! They took us around and I am truly grateful for their help and generosity. Thank you guys! We really appreciate it! I hope we get to see you more often. I hope you will enjoy the show and I hope to see you there!

It is always fun to have a bonding time with my sister Tin especially on a special occasion like Christmas. I am happy she came and spend some time with us her siblings on Christmas day. That was one of the highlights of our celebration of Christmas this year. She had the chance to meet up with old friends - her playmates when she was a kid. It is fun watching them catching up, reconnecting and reminisce the past. They miss each other for sure. I hope ate Tin would visit us more often because we miss her!

Three more days to go and it is Christmas! Everyone at home is already busy preparing. I am particularly in-charge with the food on the table for noche buena, just like the previous years. I don't really mind as I enjoy preparing food for my family and friends who are all welcome to come join us on that day. We always prepare simple filipino dishes but we always end up with so much food on the table as neighbors would always share what they got and vice versa. Isn't that the true essence of christmas? Sharing love, that is! But, we don't have to wait for Christmas to share love. We can do it everyday, anytime, and anywhere!

My dad is the only man in my life right now. He is the best! He is not perfect just like anybody else but he is trying to be perfect for us kids. I love him to death and will do anything for him. I am lucky to have a dad like him. For those who still have parents, a mother or father or both, shower them with your love. Give them attention as much as you could because you could not take back the time that is already lost. Saying "i love you" to your loved ones is meaningful is you mean it. To you dad, I love You! Our christmas tree was up as early as October but we continue to decorate it like a work in progress. We decided to put it up that early because we want to enjoy the Christmas season for a longer time. Let's admit it, having christmas ornaments give us the feel of the holiday season - the christmas spirit is something everyone would like to feel. I want to thank everyone who greeted me on my birthday yesterday. I really appreciate all the nice thoughts. prayers and wishes. It a quiet day and no biggie but my family and friends made me feel so special and loved. Spending the night in a hospital bed...

As much as i wanted to wait for an available cheaper room or even in a ward, i had to no choice but to get a private room because there was no assurance i could find one. I hate spending P2,500 per day for a roon just for a supposed to be 3-hour session only. Since I would be paying for a private room anyway, i decided to just stay all night in the hospital with Patty.

I had to take my eye medication through IV (dextrose) and i got it all done and was ready to check out this morning. Well, my doctor was not around to order my discharge so the hospital staff won't allow me to leave. What? I sensed trouble! I was not ready to pay for another day, no way! But do i have a choice? Apparently not! So i left the hospital P14K poorer, sigh! But, i am happy i got it done before my birthday.

Today is a special day for our family. It is my lolo's (grandpa's) 9th death anniversary and my sister Patty's 19th birthday. We did not plan for anything special but my sister's boyfriend was so nice to bring a lot of food for everyone to feast on so Patty's birthday turned out really well! There was a large pizza, buffalo wings, cake, pancit malabon, and a lot more!

Getting ready for an angiogram ...

My eye doctor told me both my eyes are swollen. Now, i know why i could hardly see. I was in a very stressful incident recently and i guess that triggered this whole thing. I was asked to have an angiogram so he will see the extent of the illness. I am still looking for a place where i could get my angiogram at a lower cost but i'm sure it would be very hard to find one. Well, i just keep on looking or else just pay more than P3K and get it done.

I might be hibernating for awhile to give attention to my worsening eye problems. My eye doctor has been telling me to give my eyes a rest and to avoid stress, if possible. I don't wanna lose my vision. I cannot imagine losing my eyesight; I am too young. I expect to visit my eye doctor more often in the next days so i would be asking my mom to take care of my blog while i can't. I will keep you posted and see you soon!

The stressful job of a call center agent has finally took a toll on my health. I have been sickly these days. My resignation came sooner than I expected because I got sick so i decided not to go back to work anymore. I hope i would get back on my feet and feel better soon. It's been a while since I last updated my blog. I was stuck with work that I almost have zero percent social life. Being a call center agent is not an easy job, believe me. I have lots of things to work on. For example, my QoS which made me cry a little bit. Talk about arrogant customers. No matter how much I wanted to punch them in the face, all that I can do is to bounce back from those mid box surveys that pulled down my issue resolution percentage. Well, as I look into my statistics, I have lots of top box survey from those satisfied customers but I need to exert more effort into it. I know that in the coming days, I will get the hang of it and it will be easier. I just hope there are no big updates that will make my brain burst! As much as the pressure is getting into my bones, I'm enjoying every bit of it. I am learning a lot; I'm sure I've earned a life experience degree that none of the accredited online colleges could ever give me! I just hope that August will be a good month for me.

I feel so inspired after watching this video. How will you say no to a proposal like this ? If I were on the shoes of Ginny, I would do the same. It's really shocking ( in a good way) to see that there's still a man like Matt in this wicked planet. Knowing that there are a lot of douche bag that we have to deal with on a daily basis, it's like a breathe of fresh air to witness a scenario like this once in a while. To be honest, this video changed some of my perceptions with marriage/ engagement. I used to be bitter with love. After watching this, I feel like I'm ready to give love another try.

Fliptop Battle

It's been a while since I watch a Fliptop Battle. For those who are wondering what Fliptop is, I would love to spill some details about it. Fliptop is a rap battle league in the Philippines which was founded by Anygma early last year. It has been dominating the internet and even the television for almost a year now and it has become a source of entertainment for people from any age. What made this rap battle league unique above the rest is the fact that Fliptop produced talented battle warriors that entertain people with their punch lines. It also raise the popularity of Filipino hiphop industry which is good thing since Filipino hiphop lost it's spark when Francis M. died.

While browsing on facebook, a post from Fliptop fan page caught my attention. It is a video of a battle between Shehyee and BLKD. I decided to give it a try and good thing I did. I was so amazed on how the two battled. The two came up with sick lines with sense which is not common on fliptop battles.The two young battlers raised the standards of fliptop to the next level. I am so looking forward to see more battles from these two. I just hope fliptop battlers would learn styles and techniques like these. If this will become a trend, I know more parents would have approve of Fliptop. After watching this battle, I relaized that Fliptop is still on. I'm still an avid fan and just like the others, I'm so excited to see their next upload.

Blue Palm Resort

After a long wait and extensive planning, our much awaited family outing happened and it was fun! I can still picture how beautiful the place is.. It is located at the heart of Pansol, just a few blocks away from Sun City Resort. As you enter the resort, you can see the lobby which is decorated with native home decors that adds up to the cozy feel of the place. The cabanas are located near the pool area. What make this place exceptional among those private resort is that they have a built in jacuzzi in each cabana which is available 24/7. Another good thing that I love about Blue Palm is that they have a really huge pool. The presence of the pool is so inviting because it's really clean and it's not that deep. We stayed there for a day and It felt as if I'm glued to this place already. Blue Palm didn't fail my expectation. For those people who are looking for a nice place to have an outing or even a party, I would surely recommend Blue Palm. I can't wait to visit this place again next year.

Swimming Galore!

After a week of planning, the swimming/ reunion with my friends happened last night. Yesterday sure was tiring because I prepared our dinner. Good thing it only took me 3 hours in preparing the food. Aside from that, I have to deal with the stress of computing the entrance fee, cottage fee and even the transportation fee for each of us. As we arrived at the resort, I was surprised to see very few people bathing at the pool. It was a good thing since we aimed to have a quiet place as a venue of our reunion. Every minute of the outing was a blast. I had so much fun catching up with my friends whom I missed so much. We had so much fun playing at the pool. Another thing that put a smile on my face was when they complemented the food that I prepared. We went home at around 3am and I was so tired. The stress exhaustion was all worth it. I can't wait to do this again with my friends. Hopefully next time, the venue will be bigger and more extravagant. Talk about Bora or Palawan. I'm so looking forward to next year.

A Crazy Little Thing Called Love (review)

For unemployed newly grads like me, Sundays are usually spent inside the house, watching television or just surfing the internet. Last Sunday for me was extra special. Aside from the fact that I had so much fun on our way home from Laguna, I also had the chance to watch a Thai film that brought me back to my high school years.

A Crazy Little Thing Called Love is about a not-so pretty high school girl who had a big crush over her oh-so handsome senior. If you will rely purely on this, you will assume that this movie is just a typical romantic comedy movie that we usually watch on mainstream cinema. Good thing the film's story telling was exceptional among the rest. While watching the movie, I feel as if I were on the girl's shoes. It brought back memories from high school that is similar to the scenes in the film. Majority of the audience can relate to the film which made it realistic.

Another plus factor for the film are the artists who portrayed their characters really well. Aside from the leads, the supporting characters are superb in their acting. I give props for the casting people who did a really good job. Also, the cinematography was above average. The scenes are executed really well with the help of the right camera shots. The lighting of the scenes is also a big helped in making every scenes so real. Every minute of the film was worth watching.

I never knew that I would enjoy films such as these. Hands down to Thailand because they produced quality films that people from other countries would enjoy. I'm looking forward to more Thai films on my list. Because of this film, I became a Mario Maurer fan in an instant.

Agua de Mayo

Summer is getting into my nerves and I find it difficult to enjoy the heat. For people like me who don't have the privilege of having an air conditioner at home, the only way to beat the heat is a simple cry from heaven or in short, just a short rain. Yesterday, God answered my prayer. At around 1PM, rain came pouring so hard. I did not think twice in joining my relatives outside our house as they enjoyed bathing under the rain. Aside from the fact that it is really fun, old people believe that the first rainfall during the summer is a blessed water from heaven that can cure skin diseases. I was so amazed how a simple rainfall during May can bring the family together. I am looking forward to more Agua de Mayo in the coming years.

My youngest brother Lui has always been dear to me. He's a friend, confidant, or even an enemy all in one. I can still remember the times when I used to fetch him from school during his kindergarten days. Those times when I helped him out on his lessons when examinations are fast approaching. I just missed spending quality time with him. Last week, me and Patty decided to give him a little treat for his birthday. We decided to throw him a little party enough for the whole family and his close friends. I was assigned to do the cooking while dad put extra efforts in decorating the third floor which was his party venue. Patty, on the other hand helped me out in preparing the dishes. The 16th of April was the busiest day of the month for me. Imagine doing all the cooking from morning till early in the evening... Believe me, it was really tiring!
I was so happy that we were able to pull things off that day. Seeing how happy my brother was made me super happy as well. Knowing that he appreciated all of our efforts made everything worthwhile. I hope that next year, we will be able to surpass this party and throw him a party much bigger than this one.

Visita Iglesia

In the last four years, It has always been a tradition of our group to participate at the station of the cross at Antipolo. It is a long walk from our house to the Antipolo Church. It will usually take you six long hours of walk to finish the whole thing. It's my form of sacrifice for the Lord during the Lent. This year, I decided to break my tradition. This year, I decided to participate at the Visita Iglesia with my ATC family. Visita Iglesia is similar to the thing you do at Antipolo but the twist here is that you have to go to 13- 14 churches to finish the whole thing. This means that one church is equivalent to one station.

Yesterday, we started our sacrifice at the first church which is located at Pateros. We walked from one church to another. We can't eat, nor take a jeep or any means of transportation until you finish half of it.When we arrived at the 9th station, we decided to grab something for our hungry tummy. After that quick lunch, we decided to continue our long journey. It was a tiring afternoon and it felt like my body is about to give up but keeping the thought in my head that I'm doing this for God makes me want to finish this process. As we arrived at the Last church which is the Sacred Heart church, I feel so happy knowing that I was able to finish everything. I offered a prayer and thank him for all the blessings the whole year. This was indeed a memorable experience for me. It was a tiring walk but it was all worth it. I can't wait to do this again next year.

Palm Sunday

Today is the official start of the holy week. What better way to start this week than to attend the Sunday mass, right? Just like most of the people here in our Barangay, we decided to attend the mass on the church here at our place. As we walked through the crowded streets, we see people going to the same direction as ours. You can also see a lot of palm vendors preparing their palms which will be blessed after the mass. I am so happy knowing that a lot of people still lives on the tradition of the Catholic church. It's good knowing that a lot of people still know how to thank God for every good thing he did for us.
As the mass started, I focused all of my attention the the mass proper alone. It's nice to communicate with God once in a while. I felt so blessed hearing his words. It felt like I'm talking to him up close. Finishing the mass today was a big accomplishment for me. It was satisfying in a way because I know deep down that I started holy week just right. Looks like I will have an interesting week ahead of me. I know that by the end of the week, I will be a better person for I will dedicate every minute of the week thanking the Lord for everything.

Having good friends sticking with you on a daily basis is like in icing on the top of a cake. I'm so happy to have good friends who are always there to back me up whenever I'm feeling blue or even when I just want to have someone by my side. I know four years is not considered a lifetime but the memories we've shared and the experiences we had makes the bond of our friendship tighter and closer. People may see us as a group with different personalities but I think that's what make this friendship unique above all. I know that the relationship established between me and my pals will last until my last breath. Going through college became easier knowing I have them around. I can't thank God enough for giving me wonderful people like them. I know it sounds cliche but I can't imagine going through college without them.

I know Graduation is fast approaching but that doesn't mean that it is the end of our journey. We may be going through different paths of career but one thing is for sure: I will always be here for all of you and I will never leave you. Thanks for sharing your life with me. I am looking forward to more parties and drinking sessions with you guys. :)

I was so shocked to see the video since it's been a year since we uploaded it. Actually, we did it just for fun, not for anything else. I was laughing while browsing on the comments. Trip to Quiapo

After all the sleepless nights due to pressure on schoolworks, I can confidently say that I'm going to graduate by the end of this school year. This is a big blessing not just for me but for my whole family. What made this such a big thing for us is the fact that me and my sister succeeded in beating all the deadlines and luckily for us, we both passed and will attend the graduation.I knew all along that all of these are possible because God is by our side. Good thing I always talk with him through my prayers and just this semester, some of my classmates decided to visit Quiapo habitually to ask for guidance to the Lord. After all that we've been through, Me and my friends decided to give Quiapo another visit.

As usual, our trip to Quiapo is a long, bumpy ride from Makati to Manila. What made this ride fun are the conversations we had to keep ourselves entertained while we are experiencing the traffic jam on our way to our destination. As we reached Quiapo, our eyes feast on the sidewalk stalls full of different products with of course, different purpose. You can find almost everything in Quiapo: Pirated DVD's, pets, home decors, bags, shirts and yes, even sex toys! First timers will surely be surprised with what this place has to offer.

Let's cut the chase and proceed to what we went there for. We attended the mass and good thing we finished it before rush hour. After the mass, we decided to talk a walk to enjoy th vicinity.

Aside from the products that this place offers, we also noticed interesting people outside the church. A guy who dressed like Jesus was there encouraging people to join him in his "New Jerusalem". It was weird but he kept firm with his belief. To be honest, I found it entertaining rather than believable. We didn't stayed long since I needed to go to the hospital because my dad was rushed there due to high blood sugar. Good thing we finished the mass before that incident happened.

Even though our Quiapo experience was just a quick afternoon on a busy Friday, I was so contented and happy because I spent my time there with my friends. I know this is not my last visit to this place. Quiapo has been one of my favorite places in Manila for it offers different things in life. It's a place where you can strengthen your faith with God. A must visit for people who love to try new things.

A "Kantina" Experience

Friday nights are considered bonding nights for me and my siblings. Every Friday, we make it a point to hunt for places that offers different varieties of food on a low price. Good thing my sister's boyfriend (Dario) introduced "Kantina" to us. At first, I was hesitant to try the place because it was the first time that I've heard of it. It is located at the parking lot of Market2x and they are open from 7PM-8AM during Fridays only. Anyway, we arrived there at 11PM. I was surprised to see mouth watering dishes and desserts. I knew at that very moment that I wont leave "Kantina" with an empty stomach.

I had a taste of the baked macaroni first. It's really affordable and it has a huge serving. I know i'll give it a second try when I visit the place next time.

The cheesecake didn't fail to deliver. We actually had two slices of it. They also offer blueberry cheesecake, oreo cheesecake, chocolate cakes, etc. I know this doesn't sound so healthy but it wouldn't hurt if you try these just once a week, right ?

I can say that "Kantina" can be called the mini version of Banchetto or the Midnight Mercato. If you're in for a food trip that can make your tummy burst, give Kantina a try. This place is a haven for foodies on a low budget. Try visiting the place and believe me, your first visit wont be your last.

Emotions: An Album Review

I grew up knowing that Mariah was one of the so called “Diva” of the Music Industry. I became a Mariah Carey fan as soon as I saw her first video on MTV. I was awe struck by her vocal range and ability. She was loved by many and it seems that her music evolve as time goes by. She’s a great influence in terms of loving and appreciating music. Mariah is truly one of a kind. I have always been highly impressed with Mariah Carey for quite a few of her songs like Vision of Love, Hero and Heartbreaker. Mariah could take on just about any song and make it so original, it was if you were listening to that song for the very first time. Mariah Carey has since proved that she is a legendary vocal pop diva, that is gifted and has truly grown, as someone who should be respected in the music industry. She has achieved great praise in the music industry for being talented. I think she is very much deserving of that praise, as she has brought something so unique and diverse to the industry, that many girls today, who attempt her style of singing are often known as "unoriginal". Mariah Carey is the ultimate female pop star that has projection down so naturally, she continues to show prove that with every performance. Every time we see Mariah Carey perform, we look forward to what she will do the next time.

Another thing that I love about her is that she tends to be flexible in terms of her look, but is also naturally beautiful . I think in terms of her look, she is spontaneous and she isn't afraid to try anything new.Mariah is one of the most advanced female artists that can project a song and make it believable, hence why every time we hear her sing, she makes us believe what she is singing. She proves she is elemental and universal in her own right. Although Mariah is more elemental, than commercial and Mariah is effortlessly good. I can say that Mariah is a legend in the music industry. With her accomplishments and timeless songs, there is no doubt that she will still be loved in the coming years.

Album Review: Emotions

Emotion was a strong follow up to Mariah Carey's self-titled debut album. Every song here is worth hearing and some, like "Emotions" and the gospel-inflected "If It's Over" stand with Mariah Carey’s best. The title song is one of Mariah's catchiest songs complete with upper range vocal that can give a listener chills. This album is a showcase for her vocal talent. Mariah also shows herself to be a good composer here as she writes and sings the songs "Can't Let Go" and "If It's Over". The ballads "And You Don't Remember" and "So Blessed" features Mariah not only making great use of gospel organs but of equally strong gospel/soul passion from Mariah herself. "The Wind," is a full blown jazz track with strong lyrics and an elegant, understated vocal performance from Mariah. "Make it Happen", on the other hand, follows mixing gospel-style vocals and lyrics with a heavy dance beat. This track makes we want to dance along with it.

With these said, I can also see some cons in this album. I would rate it a couple notches higher than her debut album, but for some reason find her debut definitely more interesting than this one. The lead single, "Emotions" was a No. 1 single for Mariah but it was also the only single from the album that made No. 1. The problem with this CD is that despite containing ten songs, at least half of the album is forgettable, which is not a good thing. In my opinion, some songs just outshined some of the tracks from this album.

Even if some cons are sighted in this album, I can say that Mariah still did a pretty good job with this one. Her songs make sense and have great emotions. The songs have heart to them and Mariah sings about love, heartache and loneliness once again. I know that Mariah Carey has so many amazing and awesome songs in her albums over the years, but this one has a distinct specialness on it's own.

A not so perfect love story.

Usually, when I'm feeling down and out, I turn to movies and television shows to cheer me up. For me, it feels good to encounter a fairytale like story from a show or a video once in a while. It seems like the world is full of hate and negative vibes and seeing a cute love story will definitely lighten up your mood. Just this morning, I was feeling so depressed until I saw Lee Hyun's video music video of the song "You are the best of my life". Even though the song is in Korean and was not supported by subtitles, I still enjoy watching the video's message was heartfelt. To be honest, I can really relate with the story because I was hoping for the same fairytale ending for myself. Believe me when I say that this video can change your perception when it comes to love. This 4minuter video made my day.

All American Rejects: An Album Review (2003)

I am generally not a fan of bands like this, including ones like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, but after I had heard their songs thru youtube , I gave them a try. I fell in love. The instrumentals are nothing to die for, in fact, generally, they're quite easy, so if you're looking for a band where the guitar solos take up the whole song, and the drumming is to die for, I don't suggest this band.

Aside from that, the voice of the vocalist is sweet sounding, and unlike many artists, he really sings, and it comes much more from the heart. Their songs are catchy.. and cheerful. They have a different sound than any other band I have heard of, even though they are classified in that punk rock/emo/pop section of music.

The most attractive thing about The All-American rejects is their straightforward sound. Teens and twenty-something's can relate to their music because it is simple and because the people making it are the same age. They have the presence and pop nature of Blink 182 and combine it with the heartfelt lyrics of Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional. What it all adds up to is an unbelievable record that should stand the test of time. The All-American Rejects use a lot of falsetto in their music, which also contributes to its edgy, raw emotional nature. The Rejects offer everything. Such power pop ballads as "My Paper Heart", "Swing, Swing" and "Don't Leave Me" will leave you humming all day with whatever you doing. Any band who can mix feeling and emotion in their lyrics with catchy, rocking beats deserves to be listened to. I really enjoyed the lyrics; they sing about things that most of us can relate to in the days of our youth. All American Rejects is a band to watch out for.

Album Review : ALL AMERICAN REJECTS

A few months ago, I heard "My Paper Heart" for the first time and knew I had to download the album of this band. Though I had never heard little of All-American Rejects before, the adept songwriting and melodic punk-pop sound of My Paper Heart" somehow had me knowing, after only one listen, that this would be a great album. My instincts were right. The All-American Rejects' debut simply cannot be rejected. Ever since I downloaded the songs a couple of months ago, it has been a regular listen on my mp3 player. The band deals lyrically in love songs: love dying, love unrequited, even starting over. The music tends to have somewhat of a same sound to it although not as much as others I've heard. This album consists entirely of songs with memorable hooks, up-tempo rhythms, melodic punk- pop choruses, and infectious lyrics. The album has been well-produced, enhancing the overall packaging of each song. The hits "Swing, Swing", "Time Stands Still", and "The Last Song" proved that the band was creating interesting music. The All-American Rejects mixed pop, rock, and synthesized sounds with just a hint of a grunge feel and the product was very unique. Their fusion even landed the band a spot in the soundtrack to the pilot episode to the television series The OC with the song "Swing, Swing". My personal favorites from this record include: "My Paper Heart", "Don't Leave Me" "Too Far Gone", and "Drive Away".

With this debut album, the All-American Rejects have demonstrated they have sharp musical senses. Their music compares favorably with any emo-type artist you hear on today's radio. Between the band's natural musical talent and its alignment with today's hottest commercial sound, it wouldn't surprise me to hear more from the All-American Rejects.

Midnight Mercato Madness

I'm feeling stressed out and pressured with all the deadlines and stuffs. Not to mention our thesis defense which was scheduled a week from now. Just to break the ice, my sister and I decided to give Midnight Mercato a try. We were really curious about the place since it always get positive feedbacks from visitors and foodies. To find out if all of the feedbacks are true, we decided to go there just last night. As I walk through the crowded food bazaar, I was happy to see plenty of food stalls that offers different kinds of food. From Mexican, to Italian, to Chinese, etc.: name it, the Midnight Mercato has it. What made Mercato exceptional from other food bazaar is that they have a big food serving on a low price. To spice things up, they provided a band set up that didn't fail to entertain the foodies all night long. Mercato was a perfect mix of entertainment and food. I am looking forward to more Mercato trippings in the coming weeks. I can say that the food bazaar didn't fail to meet my expectations.

My Journey has come to an end.

Two months have passed and my journey as an assistant pre-school teacher is about to end. I will surely miss waking up in the morning, getting ready for the traffic that I will encounter in the busy streets of Makati and of course, thinking of ways to get the students engaged with the school activities. After this training, my Tuesday and Thursday morning will never be the same again. I will always cherish the moments when I reward the kids with chocolates whenever they perfect the exams or even when I just feel like giving them goodies. Those kids have been really nice to me and I've seen how they improve their potentials on the activities in school. Because of these students, I became more patient on certain situations and I started to love kids. If I will be given a chance to undergo this process again, I will never doubt to give it another try. I will forever cherish the moments I had in Maximo Estrella Elem. School. I hope that someday, those students will grow into a responsible human being that can contribute to the benefit of our country.

A visit to Vogue

It's been a while since I had a night out with friends. Last night, me and my girl friends decided to unwind just for a bit to lessen the stress that we've been encountering for months. We've been really excited because it was the first time for us to go out without a male companion. 10AM arrived and we decided to give Bargos a try. When we arrived at Home Depot Ortigas, we were surprised to find out that they changed the name of the place. From Bargos, they changed it to Vouge. The place is still the the same, even the waiters looked familiar. After observing around the vicinity, we decided to place our orders. We settled for Tanduay Ice since we never planned to get drunk. We had a bucket of the goodies and that's it. As we exchanged conversations, some guys were hitting on my friends. I found it so funny since those guys are just like my dad. It was actually a bad night for boys hunting. When we finished our drinks, we decided to go home. We surely had a blast.

I never knew a company of three would be so much fun. I am looking forward to more parties with them. I know that is not my last time at Vogue. After last night, I put Vogue on my list of my favorite resto bar.

If you have been following my blog from multiply, you will definitely know how this post would go. I can still remember how I got so hooked in blogging due to a certain encounter with a guy who was so cute and charming. Oh well, I never had a chance to ask his name because I was too shy to approach him that time. Anyway, I decided to blog about him and find out if I can get details about this guy through my posts. Luckily, I found him, I got his name and even more. Too bad, I never had a chance to see him again. Time passed and my hots for this guy faded. Oh well, that's life.

I was with my friends last Friday and we were on a jeep going to Guadalupe until a guy in a purple shirt entered the jeep. I stared at him for five long seconds and I was so amused with his looks. I don't know what kind of spirit entered my body when I bravely told the guy "Hi kuya, ang cute mo naman.". I was surprised with what I said but I decided to go with the flow since it seemed as if he's okay with it. So I started to utter things and my friends were so shocked to see me behave that way. Too bad, he rode the jeep for 15 short minutes. What made the situation more disappointing is that I didn't even got his name. How bad could my day be?

I can still remember how that guy in the purple shirt looked. Wherever you are, I hope that one day, I get to see you again and hopefully, we can ride the jeepney together. I just hope this wont be like the guy in the yellow shirt scenario.

Vanessa Carlton: An Album Review (2002)

What’s not to like with Vanessa Carlton? Her amazing voice, stunning lyrics, and awesome piano playing make her seem much older than her 20 something years. Her songs promises to make Vanessa a household name, but more than that, it plainly shows that she is more than just a young female singer-songwriter. She is a talented musician and that is evidenced by every note of her every song.

I am just so proud of Vanessa for begging to be different from everyone else. She does what the pop industry is terrified of… she's herself. No elaborate vocals or gyrating to an infectious beat. Beautiful, smooth, sultry and expressive melodies laced with a unique and elegant-sounding voice. For your information, she came out of her shelf when she debuted her song. She was a ballerina for years but instead of pursuing a career on ballet, she chose to be a musician. If you will look around the music scene today, you’ll see no signs of this singer. Vanessa Carlton disappeared way too quickly, and when you think of some of the more successful people she was competing with at the time, this is a sad fact. If you want a fresh, unspoiled talent to listen to, I strongly suggest that you listen to Vanessa. Too bad she is nowhere to be found in the present. As far as I can remember, her debut song still haunts my playlist in my friendster profile. She provide us with high quality of music that people of any age can relate to.

Album review: Be Not Nobody

Vanessa Carlton's album, Be Not Nobody, is nothing short of incredible. From the opening chords of "Ordinary Day" to the last trailing notes of "Twilight", Be Not Nobody is an album you won't be able to turn off.

The album started of with “Ordinary Day”. It has an ethereal and interesting message of spontaneity and chasing down dreams. It's upbeat and somewhat classical sounding. She expresses her feelings of inferiority in the relationship in the song “Unsung”. The vocals and strong backbeat make it an interesting contrast with the rest of the album. The keys employed and the melody combination of the song “A thousand miles” are signs of sheer brilliance. The lyrics aren't spectacular, but the piano more than compensates. “Paradise” is sheer brilliance. The girl described in the song is fighting an internal conflict with herself even though she's in "paradise." The lyrics are vague and could be perceived differently by different people, the smoothness of the melody and emotion of Vanessa's voice make it impossible to deny this song. “Paint in Black” is best cover songs I've heard in years. Her voice is bursting with emotion and power as she pounds through the song with passion and varying tempos. Twilight is absolutely beautiful . With its evasively smooth and substantial lyrics , you cant get enough of it.

On the other hand, I found two songs that are actually not my thing. “Pretty baby” has a catchy bridge but compared to the other song by Vanessa, this is totally skippable. “Sway” is a total turn off. It lacks power and the lyrics have nothing special to it.
Be Not Nobody is a breath of fresh air in a world that is bogged down by teeny-bopper and dance anthem. The music is so real. A must listen to people who goes for sensible music.

A review of "My Amnesia Girl"

I've been working my butt off for weeks and I really need a break. The bad thing is that I can't find time to relax since I had lot of things to do in a limited time. For your information, graduation is fast approaching and of course, you need to give your best for you to make it on the list. Yesterday, as I was thinking of ways to battle stress, My sister decided to put a DVD on the player. She asked me to give "My Amnesia Girl" a try. I was doubting at first but eventually, I decided to watch the movie,

I was surprised to love the movie. I never love mainstream Filipino movies. I found stories of Filipino films common and majority of the films are full of stereotypes. Good thing this one change my perception on this. "My Amnesia Girl" entertained me from start to finish. I found the story unoriginal but hey, the acting of the lead stars was outstanding. It was a feel good movie that will make you laugh and fall in love at the same time. I was laughing so hard because it was full of cheesy punchlines that are in a way, very cute. Aside from that, the movie have supporting actors that didn't failed to deliver. The scriptwriter was a genius for giving us unforgettable lines that will stay on our minds for years. I never knew Tony and John Lloyd have a chemistry. I would like to give props to the director, Cathy Molina for giving us wonderful movies for the past years. People my age would say that the best movie of this time is probably "One More Chance". I can confidently say that "My Amnesia Girl" has surpass the said movie in some ways. A must watch for people who wants to laugh and get a dose of famous, corny punch lines that we encounter on a daily basis.

Believe when I say that thesis is downright scary.

Thesis will make your brains explode. Me and my sister have been revising the first two chapters of our thesis for a month and up to now, we found plenty of revisions after the consultation with our adviser. What made thesis making harder is the fact that this process is usually done by groups of four, but as for us, we we're doing the whole thing just by ourselves. Believe us, it's just me and my sister Patty. Talk about brainstorming, sleepless nights, and thinking of ways to produce a quality video output about our study. The clock is ticking and there is no room for errors. Hopefully, In God's will, we will finish all of these on time. Did I mention that we haven't prepared for the defense yet? Oh God, the coming weeks will surely feel like hell.

Renewed love for cooking :)

I'm starting to get lunatic over our thesis so I decided to give myself a little treat. Due too truckload of schoolworks, I haven't had the time to do what I really love doing. As you all know, I've been cooking almost half of my life it makes me really happy serving delicious dishes to the people that I love. Because I really missed doing this, I decided to renew my love for it. After refreshing my memory with dishes that I know how to prepare, I decided to stick with the one that I'm craving for. I don't consider this as my specialty but people who got a taste of it loved it. If you think that I chose to prepare carbonara, you're judgement is correct.

I started things off by buying the ingredients needed for the dish. Good thing the nearby wet market can provide everything that I needed. After that, I prepared the ingredients for cooking. Talk about chopping and mincing some of the ingredients. It was then followed by the cooking proper. I need not to mention the details because I have this technique in cooking which is something that I don't feel like sharing. (LOL). When I finished cooking, I served the food to my family and thank God, everybody loved it! Whenever I see people happy with the dish that I prepared, it feels as if I'm in cloud nine. I was happy to know that I still have that magic in the kitchen. I set my mind that on vacation, i'll give more time to these and hopefully discover more dishes that me and my family would love.

Extremely Live: An Album Review

It’s really sad knowing that his career reached a major downfall so fast. If you’re familiar about this guy, you’ll notice that he’s the kind of artist whose not afraid to do whatever he like to do. Let’s just say he’s making the most of the “bad publicity, still good publicity” thing.

Aside from being a rapper, he also stars on some television sitcoms and movies. That’s a good thing cause it shows how flexible the man is in providing us entertainment. As I grow old in time, I can say that Vanilla Ice is a douchebag for his not-so good acts but this doesn’t show on his work because most of us still love his songs. If you just want to have fun and make you’re body sweat, try to listen to Vanilla Ice’s song and you surely wont regret a second of it.

Album Review: Extremely Live

Obviously, nobody is going to say Vanilla Ice was a particularly awesome rapper but this album is a fun listen. If, like me, you enjoy popping it on your player and enjoy live music. It has all of his good song and most of the rest of what he had done up to that point as well. The live version of Ice Ice Baby rocks and makes this album worth owning. There are also some pretty good new songs on the album. One of which is “Play the Funky Music” which is a good disco song. This song reminded me of how my dad dance during his time. Totally entertaining. I also love satisfaction. I never knew that this song is from Vanilla Ice until I listen to his album. It’s not like those songs that goes with time but it’s a fun listen once in a while. The melody just makes you want to stomp your feet while resting after a hard days work. That’s plus point for this album.

On the other hand, I saw some pretty obvious cons on this album. The sound quality can be rough in some spots. I still love Rollin' in My 5.0, Satisfaction and the ultra funky numbers of I Like It and Play that Funky Music. Ice Ice Baby sounds strong here, but I prefer the album version. I think that this album came out too quick in the helm of Vanilla Ice's To The Extreme multi platinum success.It sold well, but this album is a good example of the kinds of album that just came and went so fast.It’s alive album so I observe that the recording was not that good. Vanilla Ice would have taken another direction with his career other than this uneven live album. Overall, this album is okay . Fun to listen to but beyond that, I can see any reason for me to love it more.

New and Improved Weekend of Freedom

As usual, weekends without dad is considered weekends of freedom. Sticking on our tradition, we spend Saturday night dining our harts out at Somethin Fishy Restaurant. Me and my siblings love this restaurant so much that we made it a habit to visit this restaurant at least once a month. No need for me to elaborate much about what this restaurant can offer since I've been bragging about this place on some of my blog entries. Anyway, enough about that mouth watering restaurant. It's making me hungry just thinking about it.

After dinner, we took a cab ride from Eastwood to Makati. We arrived home at 2AM. For some unknown reason, I don't know why I couldn't sleep so I decided to watch some movies. I finished two movies by 6AM but after that, I decided to give myself a workout. Believe me, I never had an eye for exercise and I really don't know what went up to me for me to engage to an hour of workout. What happened next was also something new, but I found it a good thing. I decided to clean the whole house and after all the chores, I felt really proud because I used my free time in things that are totally worth it.

I never know if this will happen again. Hopefully, in the coming weekends of freedom, those new things will become a habit. If that will happen, I know dad will be very happy.

A change of heart?

My first day with the kids was surprisingly incredible! I loved every minute with them. As I entered the room, I was really nervous to see all the students staring at me. I don't know what's going through their mind that time and I was a bit paranoid because I'm afraid to get negative feedback from these kids. As we started the class, I was assigned to assist a group of students with their activities like writing and art stuffs. It started off really awkward since the students we're hesitant to approach me, which is somewhat acceptable since it was their first encounter with me. Good thing they started to open up as the clock tick. I enjoyed talking with some of the students specially with Gian whom I considered my favorite. My three hours with them was fun and I'm looking forward to more class sessions with them. I never knew I would feel happy with this training. I hope that in the coming sessions, good surprises will come my way.

I fear kids. Seriously.

I just found out that we're about to start our Literacy Training on NSTP next week. I'm really nervous because I know little about handling kids. I was never close to kids my entire life rather than my younger brother so I find this one really difficult to handle. The reason why I posses this kind of fear in kids is that I don't have a long patience compared to those pre-school teachers who have been spending most of their time teaching these kids. I just hope things will go well on my first day. I can't say that I'm excited to start the training because fear is getting into my system right now. All I know is that my first day with the kids will surely be filled with surprises.

Bon Jovi: An Album Review

As a child,. I grew up listening to the hits of Michael Learns to Rock and Bon Jovi. They can be considered as one of the pillars of the music industry. They showed the true meaning of rock. They produced not just noise, but a quality of music. This just shows an example of a good rock band. When I was in elementary, I am fond of singing along to their hits such as “Livin on a Prayer” and “It’s my life”. Elementary days are the times when I know little of the rock genre. Pop has been a popular genre during the 90’s and there’s a very small potential that you’ll get hooked to rock bands. As I listen to Bon Jovi, they made me appreciate their music as well as the songs of other rock bands like U2 and Guns N Roses. They surely captured my attention with their catchy music!

Album Review (Slippery When Wet)

Slippery When Wet is the third studio album that Bon Jovi released during the 80’s. Since this album contains songs that doesn’t get old with time, might as well do a review about it. The album started of with the song “Let it Rock”. In my opinion, this is not the opening for their album. The keyboard playing was all good but I don’t see anything special with the lyrics. It was an average track but I must say that the vocals are pretty good. On the other hand, “You Give Love A Bad Name” was far from the opening track. The whole song is original and fresh. The lyrics are well done and the whole arrangement of the music in sync with keyboards and drums are extremely catchy. Everyone in the group had their own time of showing their respective roles in the group. I consider this song epic. “Livin on a Prayer” for me is the best track in this album. The guitar and the keyboard stand out in this track. I also love the story behind the lyrics which is about Tommy and Gina. This song is a perfect example of a good rock love song.

Although this album possesses a lot of good songs, I can also find some songs that didn’t match my taste. “Without Love” is one those mushy love songs that you listen to when you break up with a partner. The guitar is pretty clean and simple. I didn’t like it that much compared to those rock songs in this album. “Never Say Goodbye” is pretty much like Without Love. Both possesses lyrics that are closed to being emo. It’s a track that you can skip listening to.

I must say, this album became the breakthrough album of Bon Jovi. The album presented a balance of pop, hard rock and heavy metal that appealed to listeners. Aside from that, they made it a point that every band members have their own time to shine. The nice sense of style of Bon Jovi helped a lot in the success of the album. The album also shows the quality of the band’s song writing and performances which helped them build a long term music career. I must say, this album is worth listening to. This album made me love rock even more.

Queen: an Album Review

As a kid, I grew up listening to Queen’s music. It was my parents who influenced me to appreciate their songs and eventually love some of their tracks. I can still remember the time when I listen to their songs on the radio, specially the song “Bohemian Rhapsody”, it gives me chills. Listening to Freddy Mercury’s singing gave me Goosebumps. It’s amazing listening to a man who sounded much more like a woman. What amazes me more is that he sounded so incredible! Queen has become an inspiration to young rock bands and even aspirants in the rock industry. They are considered the pioneer in the 70’s. I became to love this band even more when I found out that they made the song Under Pressure. It was one of my favorite songs of all time which was revived by The Used and My Chemical Romance. Just with Under Pressure alone, the band for sure sold millions!

Another thing that I love about these guys is their sense of style. They are very unique. They are not afraid to take risk. What surprises me is that their uniqueness work in every way that we could ever imagine. The use of a variety of music, with a variety of genres, makes them truly brilliant. They have not only brought something new to music, they have changed music and made it supremely good.

Without a doubt, Queen couldn’t make it that far without their front man, Freddie Mercury. Freddie's amazing vocals, gifted stage presence, and elite projection contributed a lot to the success of Queen. Freddie managed to not only communicate with his music, but he made you believe what he sang. He was a passionate songwriter and he wrote songs that balanced several genres by a string. Although Freddie is now deceased, his legend remains.

Album Review (A Night at the Opera)

The album started with the first track which is “Death by Two Legs”. This was the perfect first track of an album. The lyrics of the song seems like it is intended on the person you hate. What I love about this track is that it has an outstanding musicality from the classical sound of a piano to pure guitar fury. This song pretty much shows what heavy rock is all about. “Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon” on the other hand is a super fun song. It’s piano based with a guitar solo. It’s a song that you can sing along with. “You’re my Bestfriend” is a song that touched my heart. You may say that the lyrics may sound cheesy but it totally works! Freddie gave the song power and beauty which made it sound outstanding. One of my favorite tracks in this album is “Love of my Life”. Every words in the lyrics stings our heart perfectly. It’s truly one of Queen’s masterpiece. I know, everybody will agree if I put “Bohemian Rhapsody” on the top of the list. The first verse is absolutely stunningly beautiful. Freddie's voice, the lyrics, and the piano all come together to form one of the most amazing products of Queen. Aside from it’s musicality, I would like to give props to the music video which is super cool. No wonder people at this day and age still know this song.

Although Queen possesses good tracks in this album, we can still find some low points on some tracks. “I’m In Love with my Car” is an average track from the album. I don’t see anything special with the lyrics and the music. “Sweet Lady” is a track that is far from good. It possesses a heavy metal vibe which didn’t sound good like the other songs. It is a track that you can just skip listening to. On the lighter note, “God Save the Queen” is a guitar oriented song. It was a good closing to the album.

Overall, I think A Night at the Opera, promotes good tracks that are worth listening to. Most of the songs stand up well on their own. This album defines Queen as an artist that every musicians should look up to.

TLC: An Album Review

On the time when Britney was about to make it on the music industry and the Spice Girls are about go their own ways, I had this thing for TLC. When my classmates used to scream for their favorite boy bands, I was at home, sitting on the sofa, listening to their tracks. This trio is already famous when I discovered them while watching MTV. When I heard their song “Waterfalls” way back in 1997, I knew all along it was good music. With the soulful sound and fantastic lyrics, who wouldn’t get hook listening to them? This trio is like the perfect blend. Without one of them, they wouldn’t produce music as good as they have. Listening to them makes you feel really relax. The songs of TLC are most likely to be played while you’re on the car during a traffic jam or even when you wake up late in the morning, waiting for the breakfast to be served.

For me, the best track from this group is “Unpretty”. I had this thing for girl power and every time I heard songs promoting feminism, I know I had to include it on my favorite tracks of all time. TLC incorporated a very nice story on their songs which make it unexceptional among other songs. Way back in the 90’s RnB is one of the most famous genre which really help TLC making it big since their tracks are mostly RnB songs. Along came year 2000 and TLC is still standing strong. I know some of us are familiar with their song entitled “No Scrubs”. The music video is so year 2000. Incorporating the lyrics with this upbeat feel plus the wonderful rap by Lisa “left-eye Lopez” made this song the flavor of the month. Actually, it became my favorite for a couple of months.

In the present, I haven’t heard a lot from TLC. Ever since Lisa was killed in a car accident, the group haven’t continue their singing career, Late this year, the two members decided to go on tour in Japan and they will perform their hits. Hopefully, they will continue doing good music just like before. I can say that they are way better than some sexy girl groups of our generation.

Album Review (FANMAIL)

All of the albums of TLC are good in their own ways. If I were to pick an album for me to give a review, ill choose “Fan Mail” Since it was the album that I really love, might as well show my appreciation through this film review. Probably my favorite tracks in the album are “Unpretty” and “Dear Lie”. Both have good lyrics and melody. Unpretty promotes feminism and boosting self esteem in many ways. Aside from that, it has that RnB feel that makes the track soothing to the ears. Dear Lie, on the other hand in is somewhat similar to Unpretty. We can say that the lyrics may sound “bitter” in a sense but its something you can slow dance with. As I take a closer look, I noticed that these two tracks are similar to “Waterfalls” which as also a big hit form the trio.

Aside from these two tracks, I also enjoy listening to “Don’t Pull Put on Me Just Yet” and “Im good at Being Bad”. These two are very similar since they both have sexy lyrics or can I say explicit? "Come On Down" is a refreshing track with interesting country vibes. The song is an entertaining listen with some really smooth deliveries. It's not the best song but it is enjoyable and definitely delivers over many tracks on the album. Although I enjoyed this album so much, Fanmail also have this down lows.

"Shout" is an entertaining up-tempo song that really runs about quickly. The song has some decent vocals and is an alright listen. Still, nothing incredible. Another track that failed to hit it big is “Automatic.” It is an enjoyable song that starts pretty good and loses it’s steam in the repetitive and boring second half. Despite this, it's still not a bad song. Another good example of a failed track is “Love Sick”. It is a track full of wasted potential. The lyrics on the song are really tight but there is no real energy in the vocals. With all of these down lows, I can say that this is still an album worth listening. Fanmail is a mixed bag with some really great songs and some major let downs. Overall, it's a pretty good effort with some songs that are definitely not worth missing. After all, this album landed TLC in major nominations and awards.

Justin Timberlake: An Album Review (2006)

Timberlake has achieved excellence by combining pop music, dance and spectacle. And with a show of this calibre, there is little room for spontaneity. He’s like the been there, done that type of artist. Regardless of the issues that comes along his way, he’s still an icon to the youth and a heartthrob that any girls would like to date. I’ve chosen to give him a review since I’ve watched him grow as an artist during those boy band days up to the solo act that he is in the present. I would like to give props to him because he evolved from being an artist to a big time producer. Seeing him do all of this in a small span of time makes me love him more. I know Justin will surprise us in the coming years. I’m excited to see the goodies that this versatile man can offer.

Album Review: Future Sex Love Sounds

On "Futuresex/LoveSounds", Timberlake leaves `NSYNC so far behind that its hard to view him as the same person. Much of this is most likely to Timbaland's credit, who produced almost every track on this fine record. This album had one of two directions to go from "Justified," either an attempt at the same thing, or a grandiose, hubristic, self-promoting, self-aggrandizing beast of a record. And to everyone's benefit , Timberlake chose the latter.

The first track is a good, heavy-hitting track to start the album off with. Easily danceable, definitely sensual, this showcases Timberlake's new sound, his new persona. It's fresh, it's rich and you'll want to dance right along with it. “SexyBack” Allowed the public a sneak peek at the sensuality that Timberlake had newly embraced and let run through all of the tracks on this album. The third track is much more like the first track so there’s nothing special about it. On “Lovestoned”, Timberlake starts off with yet another strong, danceable track and leads into one of the many over-a-minute-long interludes he uses on this album. The beat of the song “Chop me up” is amazing. The Three Six Mafia raps are put together very well and this is easily one of the most solid tracks on the album.

On the other hand, I find “Damn Girl” as my least favorite song in the album. It doesn't have the same flow and it doesn't feel like it's put together as tightly. “All over again” is another for gettable track along the same lines as "Damn Girl". This is another ballad on the album but not very solid.

Overall, I think the album did pretty well. This pretty much shows how Justin evolve as a musician. I can still remember how the songs in this album crank my playlist. A must listen for the music enthusiast.

Pussycat Dolls: An Album Review (2005)

Pussycat Dolls is more like the Spice Girls of the new generation. Not only did they posses the sexy vibe that the spice girls have, but they also have the unique talent in dancing and singing that girls my age love to imitate. One can easily tell that this sextet looked to the "girl power" icons for inspiration. While the Dolls may not have the same individual characteristics , they still have a very expansive musical understanding, along with the sassy and seductive image to go along with it.

PCD provides the listener with the likes of hip-hop, R&B, sprinkled with pop and even some saucy show tune vibes, 80's dance and even, shockingly, Jazz! And they pull all of this off. They are everywhere; from the television, radio and even the music charts. I can still remember how PCD dominated the music scene. Although they have gone their separate ways, the music of this girl group lives on. They are truly exceptional and talented in their own rights. One of the reason why I love this group is that their lead singer (Nicole) is a Filipina. It makes me really proud seeing my fellow countrymen succeed in the music scene.

Do you like music? Maybe hip-hop? Then you should listen to "Pussycat Doll's (PCD)" album with the lead singer Nicole and the back-up singers Kimberly, Carmit, Ashley, Melody, and Jessica. There are 12 songs and hot and sexy artists sing all of them.“Don't Cha” is a hot beat that runs over and over in your head and can't get it out.On the other hand, “Beep” is the funkiest song you might ever listen to. It combines spirit with great lyrics. “Wait A Minute” worked out with one of the best producers in the business. It's a great song because it has this catchy vibe to it. “Stickwitu” is such a sweet song for a sassy album, but it compliments so well and sticks to you like sugar . It’s still on my playlist of love timeless love songs. “Buttons” is a song where we can find our man, Snoop Dog. It’s a sultry, seductive and sexy song. Perfect for sexy dances or pole dances. A must listen in the album. “I Don't Need A Man” is co-written by Nicole herself with some of the best lyrics, such a theme song for all those single girls out there. It talks about how a woman can live without a partner. “Hot Stuff” is a club beat that you really just want to chill and dance to . “How Many Times, How Many Lies” is a sad song that is just perfect to listen to when you're down or just want to be emo. It’s the opposite of the track Stickwitu. I would like to give props for giving such a good rendition of the song “Tainted Love”. They brought the sexiness of the song to the next level.“Feelin' Good” is one of my favorite song in the album. It has a slow sad beat with some happy lyrics.

Sure, the Pussycat Dolls are like the new Spice Girls, but who cares? This album is great .The only true singer in the group is the lead singer Nicole who sings all the lead and background vocals. This is pop/dance/urban meets burlesque, and it's great. For a surprisingly fun album with surprisingly adept vocals and wonderfully crafted songs, you will not go wrong with the Pussycat Dolls.

Usher Raymond: An Album Review (2004)

Usher has always been my favorite R&B artist because I really believe he produces quality music. I have always liked Usher, not only is he sexy but his music can relate to any mood and anytime. Usher grabs you not only by his looks but by his voice, which can make you scream and make you cry.

Usher is plainly and simply himself, period. Unlike many pop stars of the day, he moved past his urge to expand outside of R&B and just stuck to what he was good at: crooning and performance. Usher is undeniably a very charismatic artist and always aims to please his core demographics and then some; you rarely see him in tabloids, you rarely take him as less than an authentic talent, and unlike some celebrities with scandals abound, you never really wish to punch him in the groin. It is a fact that some people love to hate Usher but you cant deny that he is the kind of musician that is for keeps in the music industry. As a fan whose been following his career for years, I saw him evolve into this matured man with matured music. He sure made me dance with his tracks before but now, he inspired me with his songs as he talks about adulthood. Listening to Usher’s hits is like a hard habit to break. He’s going to stay in the industry and he’s not going anywhere.

Album Review: Confessions

"Confessions," from Usher Raymond, is more than what we expect in an album. It's also a mature step forward and an exercise in self-examination. Here, Usher unloads some serious baggage, ranging from infidelity materialism, unwanted pregnancy and failed relationships, particularly his breakup with Chili. But that's not to say "Confessions" is all drama and no fun. The album is neatly divided between up tempo jams and smooth ballads, and Usher doesn't disappoint on either front.

Usher grabs your attention after the intro with his hit "Yeah!".It is almost impossible to hold back any dance moves that may be lying idle in your body. With a great solid and repetitive beat in the background, there is no way that you can help but bob your head and start shouting "Yeah!" "Confessions" seems to have been written from personal experience and inner feelings. A listener gets a taste of this in the track "Burn." While Usher is hitting the sweet falsetto, there is a solid group of back up singers and a solid beat that is nothing short of being catchy. The heartfelt breakup song demonstrates how Usher can go from a very up beat feel in "Yeah!" to a laid back feel in "Burn."

My two favorite tracks on Usher's Confessions album are "Truth Hurts" and "Simple Things." They are the trademarks of Usher because they are really downbeat in a kind of sudden way. They are a lot like the music he put out on his first album, sexy but they have a meaning. Not only to be sexy but to speak to you with strong feelings. "Truth Hurts and "Simple Things" go together when you look at their lyrical make up. I mean the whole CD goes together but these two tracks go hand in hand. All of the lyrics are consistent with one another. The album showed off all of Usher's talents including, his incredible range and his catchy backgrounds that will make any head bob up and down. I thoroughly enjoyed this album. A must listen for all R&B lovers.

Destiny's Child: An Album Review (2001)

Destiny’s Child defines what a real girl group is. From their song, to their individual personalities to their sense of style, its like a bag full of goodies. We all know how these girls dominate the airwaves and even our television screens during high school. They are Pop and R&B put together in one group. They are talented in many ways. A perfect role model for starters who wants to make it big in the music scene.

If you take a closer look into the career of this girl group, you will agree with me when I say that Beyonce pretty much dominate the vocals. Although this seems to be pretty obvious, this does not become a hindrance for me to love the girls equally. I believe that these girls are unique in their own little way. People who know little of this group are those who experienced unhappy childhood. I can support my statement because even people aged like my mom knows DC. Destiny's Child is the finest female group in the world, they come up with one catchy hit song after another. There are 4 #1 hits on their debut album alone. Their songs are irresistible and you just cant get enough of them. Although this group has gone their separate ways, their music lives on. I wouldn’t mind another reunion from this group in the near future.

Album Review: Survivor

Survivor is the second studio album from the trio Destiny’s Child. This album shows how the group evolve with their music and lyrics. The album give us powerful tracks and dance anthems that we still enjoy up to this very day.

The album started of with “Independent Woman”. It is a good song possessing a catchy lyrics and melody. “Survivor” is one of, if not the absolute, best on the album. Very catchy, infectious melody and lyrics. “Bootylicious” has a nice funky, sassy tune. A fun song to dance with. A confidence anthem for the ladies, basically. Some complain about the melody of “Nasty Girl” which I suppose could be better, but I still think it's catchy. And yes, it is kind of ironic, because even before they wrote this song, DC had been known to wear skanky outfits themselves. “Happy Face” is a feel good song. If you’re sad and want to feel better, I recommend for you to listen to this song. "Emotion", is one of my all-time favourite Destiny's Child songs. Lyrically and vocally, it is simply exquisite and classy. The background music is beautiful as well. Another bonus is that Beyonce does not take over this song with all her ad-libs. Instead, she lets the other girls sing lead and the harmonies are stunning. "Dangerously In Love", on the contrary, is dominated by Beyonce. However, that does not entirely prevent it from being a beautiful, touching song about being in love. Lyrically, this is one of the better songs that Beyonce co- wrote. “Brown Eyes” is incredibly touching, and Beyonce let one of the other girls, Michelle I believe, to sing lead. After that comes the heartbreaking "Story of Beauty" about a girl who was abused in several ways. Though the song is not a ballad, as most would expect, it gets the message across easily.

Overall, "Survivor" is a great album that's destined to be a classic. This is sure to please many listeners for a long time. Such musical combination makes a great listening experience

98 Degrees: Album Review (2000)

I can still remember how I sing along with their songs on MTV during the weekends. Those were the time that boy bands are hot and punk bands are not so close to that. I remember when I got hooked to their song “I Do”. I still consider this song as my wedding song if ever I get married in the future. Aside from the obvious fact that the group is composed of four hot guys, they all can sing and all are given enough spotlights compared to other boy bands who live to outshine each other members. Even though 98 degrees didn’t get the fame that BSB experienced, they still are known for giving people good music and songs that sweep you off your feet. I would love to see another 98 degrees reunion in the future.

People who followed the career of this group would agree with me when I say that they are way better than NSYNC. They produced songs that are easy on the ears. Their music is timeless. If you want to fall in love or just get inspired with love, you definitely have to listen to these guys.

Revelation

Revelation by 98 Degrees, is a fairly good CD from this vocal group. The songs are a mix of sugary ballads and fast tempo dance songs. The lyrics have an emphasis on love and romance. The latin infused pop smash hit "Una Noche" is sensual, fun. "Stay The Night" is a beautiful crooning pop love song classic. There's much more where that came from. Nick Lachey does a fantastic job on lead vocals. His distinctive sounding smooth as silk tenor voice gets strong when it needs to without losing its cooing softness, and his diction is great, allowing you to understand every lyric he sings. Up tempos like "The Way You Want Me To" can have you shake your booty to its catchy beats, perhaps reminiscent of the now popular "dirty pop" brand of up tempos. Other up tempos like "He'll Never Be What I Used To Be To You" and "You Should Be Mine" could get you to the dance floor in an instant with their catchy beats and pronounced lyrics. "Yesterday's Letter" which in my opinion is the best song on the album, takes you to a moody scenario of a break up. Perhaps as melancholy as the group's previous hit "The Hardest Thing", "Yesterday's Letter" tugs at one's emotions with its soft piano keys and painfully sung lyrics. "My Everything" is time reminiscent of the group's hit, "I Do Cherish You", is a ballad that can double as a love song, as well as an inspirational/spiritual song. The album ends with "Never Giving Up" is an Earth Wind and Fire-sounding up tempo. It starts with soft piano keys and gradually infuses with dance beats.

The album as a whole is a delightful mix of dirty pop and beautiful ballads. The group has strayed a little bit away from their Motown roots but has manages to introduce a new audience to its music with their pop tunes. This album give us R&B at its best. An amazing album. This album is a revelation.

laboratory tests are freaking me out!

It's been months since I was diagnosed with this very rare disease. There's no need for me to mention what it is because I've been mentioning it a lot on my recent posts. In line with my oral medication, I have to undergo some laboratory test almost every week which is painful not only in the body but in the pocket.

When you're about to get your blood sugar tested, you have to go through a 12-hour long fasting (no food, no water,no everything) before taking the test. It's a standard operating procedure for the result to be consistent. Imagine your body not taking any dose of water for 12 hours? Now that's what you call sacrifice! Aside from that, I also tried flourensic angiogram. This is probably the most painful laboratory test of all. It's a test wherein they will inject a fluid to your veins for them to see the back of your eye. This test is recommended by my doctor since I'm having a problem with my retina. I've exeperiened double pain because before that flourensic angiogram, I have to undergo this freaking skin test which is way worse than any vaccine. I also tried chest x-ray for them to see if my lungs are healthy and of course, I even tried two of the easiest lab tests which are the urinalysis and fecalysis. Just give them a sample of your urine and feces and wait for the result the following day. Imagine as I go through all of these things every week. Hard much?

You know what, taking care of your body is really hard. Knowing if you're really healthy is much, much harder. Imagine yourself going through all of these? Bottomline is, there is no harm in having an active lifestyle. Choosing the right meal plan is a must. If you don't want to experience these tests that i'm going through, try to listen to my advice. Do you want to go through numerous lab tests, sacrifice some cravings and some bills in the pocket? Think about it.

If I were to describe our group report on Broadcast Issues, I would say it's terrible! First, the projector that we requested from our college's office was not released. You know why? Simply because the one who is in-charge of the equipment left the office early. Talk about being irresponsible. Second, the files that are needed on our video presentation were not saved on the USB. Third, we couldn't render our presentation on a video format because the Adobe installer was having some problems. What made this scenario worst is that no one printed a copy of the script of the report. The script will be a big help because it can be our guide for us to discuss each topic to the class even if it's not supported with a video presentation.

Now it made us think why we rely so much on advanced technology. Good thing some of the sub-topics on our report was touched during the early semesters. Imagine discussing a report you barely even know for 3 hours. That's what you call psychological suicide! On the lighter note, we got through that very critical hours. We finished our report with no side comments from the class. A little advice to all of you: sometimes, old school style of reporting is preferable than the techie ones. Be prepared and don't rely on a computer because it can destroy your future! LOL!

The Wedding

My niece got married to her long time boyfriend for 7 years. Everybody was excited including me of course, who was assigned to do the program flow and to host a little bit on the reception. We had a 3-hour trip to Sonya's garden Tagaytay where the special thing happened. As we arrived on the venue, I was really impressed with the place. The garden was extraordinary and everything looks perfect for the wedding. The reception hall look really fabulous! If I were to compare their wedding to some of the wedding I attended in to, I must say that this wedding has some edge among others. We arrived at 3pm so we have to rush some few polishings on the decorations since the wedding will start at 4pm. As expected, the wedding started late because we have to wait for the judge. ( I forgot to say it's just a civil wedding ) The ceremony was just 30 mins. long so the program was focused more on the reception. At the reception proper, we did some wedding rituals like the wedding toast, cutting of the cake, etc. My sister became the entertainer of the night. She sang 5songs for the couple. Everything was perfect. The food was great, people are happy and everything run smoothly. I can't wait for them to have a church wedding. For sure it will be double the fun!

I have a wedding program to organize tomorrow and too bad, my brain lipids are not working as usual. I have to come up with a cool program flow for the reception that the guests will enjoy. I'm not new on doing these things but I find it really difficult to organize a wedding specially when you don't even have much information about the wedding. What I did is to come up with the things-to-do in a wedding reception. Talk about the wedding toast, first dance, and all that stuffs. I also tried to come up with the list of wedding games that everybody will enjoy. I'm also in charge of the song list that the technical people will play on every part of the program.

I had a very long day at market2x. I spent 4 hours in the mall looking for a white outfit that I will use this Saturday. Since white is never my thing, I find it really difficult to chose from the variety of clothes that the mall has to offer. Good thing my sister reccomended a store at the Fashion Market called APARADOR. They offer variety of clothes, shoes and bags all of sizes. I'm a pirate for a day!

As usual, I spend every Tuesday of my life in the hospital. I have to attend this weekly check-up to see if my condition is getting better or the other way around. This morning, I had two eye tests to determine if my vision is improving. Good thing the oral medication is working! On the other hand, I was surprised to find out that there's still a little inflamattion at the center of my left eye. This caused a blurry effect on my vision. As a solution, they injected my left eye with a steroid that is painful and at the same time made my eyelids numb. Because of the injection, my doctor put an eye patch on my left eye. It made me look like a very ridiculous pirate! It's been three hours since they put this patch and I can't wait for it to be removed ! Hopefully, after all of this injections and tests, I will be better in the coming weeks.

deadlines = stressors

There's nothing more stressful than meeting deadlines. Even if you're used to cramming, i'm sure you will surely agree with me. I was given a day to formulate a master calendar from July 19 to Aug 15. The master calendar will serve as our guide/ to-do list since our show is like three weeks form now. What made this task harder is that you have to consider the things to be done in every department of a production. This means you have to formulate a rehearsal schedule, props, repair schedule, music and lights requirements, etc. Good thing I have my stage managers to back me up. They are like angels sent by heaven. With their help, we formulated a very good calendar that will surely work for the production. Hopefully, with the help of the master calendar, everything will run smoothly as planned.

late night rehearsal

It's 8:00 in the evening and my day is far from over. I have to attend the late night rehearsal of our theater group in preparation of our upcoming production this August. I'm really excited because last night's rehearsal has been cancelled due to heavy rains. There's a massive power interruption all over Metro Manila which ruined my day. Today, everything is back to normal. I attended my Rizal class this afternoon and now, Im getting ready for the rehearsal. Good thing I have my phone to keep me company. Wish me luck!

I feel like choosing Sunday as my favorite day in a week. As usual, I cooked breakfast and lunch for my family. Meat is not allowed in the menu so I decided to think of healthy but delicious recipes. Well, it's always been my dilemma in feeding my brother because he's used in eating meat his entire life. I decided to cook sauteed bittermelon and fried fish for lunch. Good thing they enjoyed the food! After lunch, I uploaded some photos in my Facebook account. The pictures are mostly from our Friday night out and some are from our acting workshop. After 2 hours in my laptop, I went to the church wiith my brother. It feels so good to visit God once in a while. The joy of connecting with the creator still lingers through my veins. I just feel so alive and happy with the mass. After the mass, I ate dinner, had my last sip of water and watched some T.V. I am not allowed to eat after 8PM because the doctor advised me not to eat or drink anything for 12 hours in preparation for my laboratory test the following day. Since I can't have anything after 8PM, I decided to enjoy the rest of the night facing the laptop. It may look as a boring day but I can assure you that it's not. Im looking forward on more Sundays to come. Hopefully, Sundays will be as good as this one.

Last night was surely a night to remember. Since my dad attended a 3-day seminar, we planned some activities to do while he is still away. We started things off with a late night dinner at Libis. It's been a ritual of the family to visit SOMETHING'S FISHY at Eastwood because the restaurant never fails to meet our expectations! Talk about the food, the service, etc. Not to mention the buffet price which is really affordable. So basically, I picked foods that I missed eating. Let's just say I became connected with the inner pig in me again. (LOL) We enjoyed the buffet for 2 hours and we left the restaurant at 2AM.

Patty and co. decided to go home while Jasper, Joben and I decided to stay and continue the fun. Full much, it took us 30 minutes to decide on what bar to enter to enjoy the rest of the night. Looks like our brain lipids became inactive due to so much food in the belly! To cut the long story short, We enjoyed an hour at H20 BAR. We chill out, have some non-alcoholic drinks (i'm not allowed to drink beer because i'm under medication) and enjoyed the live band that the bar offers. At 4AM, the boys took me home and we all decided to get some rest. Never did I imagine that i'll enjoy the first night of freedom without some alcohol in my system. Now that's what you call harmless fun! Watch out for more versions of "NIGHT OF FREEDOM" in the coming months :).

NO PE class, more PRODUCTION!

When I was diagnosed with VKH, my doctor told me to make arrangements with my PE professor. I am allowed to do 1 physical activity per day. I have to limit my activities so that it won't cause any trauma to my eyes. When I had y medical certificate in hand, I had a meeting with my PE professor and the head of the PE Department. They allowed me not to do activities such as swimming and arnis but I have to exert extra effort on the upcoming projects of the PE Department this coming August. Im really happy with the arrangements because I'm assigned to do a task that sprung my interest.

F.Y.I, I've been in the stage management scene for two years now and I can say that I pretty much know the ropes inside a production. Good thing my professor as well as his boss is considerate enough with my condition. I'm looking forward to more productions ahead of me this semester. I wouldn't miss this for the world!

A night of freedom

Last friday, my dad attended a teambuilding seminar at Mt. Makiling. Since it's a 3-day seminar, I was left at home with my siblings. Of course, we planned some things to do for us to enjoy that 3 days without dad! Can you imagine living 3 days of your life without a parent/s? Such a breathe of fresh air.. LOL! What we did was that we started our first night with a late dinner @ Libis. We dined at our favorite resto called "SOMETHIN'S FISHY". I'm sure some of you have heard of the place since it's like the only resto in the Metro that offers a late night buffet meal for like 130.00. It comes with a bottomless drink for only 55.00. Now that's what you call affordable :D!

So after that sumptuous dinner, we decided to have fun @ Malate. Now ladies, if you're in for some fun, try to visit the bars along Orosa-Nakpil St. My favorite bar there is Che-lu. The entrance fee is very affordble and it comes with 2 beers plus the food is excellent! I'm sure couple of gays out there will agree with what i've said. :) Around 3am, we decided to leave the bar and we headed to the grocery shop nearby. We went home at 5:30 AM and slept at 6AM. Due to exhaustion, we woke up at 4pm. We even forgot to have lunch! Oh well, we didn't have the same plan for the following day. We just enjoyed our free day inside the house. You know, the typical movie night/slumber party.

I really did enjoy the moments while my dad was away. That sure brought a feelin of happiness all over my bod! So much better than vanilla ice cream with hot fudge :) Im so looking forward to the seminars that my dad will attend to in the coming months. I am sure, the next time my dad is away, riot will surely take place in the house. It's gonna be fun!

GOD is the answer ...

Last month, something bad happened to me. I was diagnosed with a rare disease that may took months/ years to be treated. Have you ever heard of VKH syndrome? Based on what my doctor said, it's a disease without a sure cause. You can say that the ratio of people who have VKH is like 1 in a million. This disease attacks the pigments in your body, meaning every part of your body that has something to do with pigments can be affected. Talk about the skin, hair, eyes, etc. Unlucky for me, it targeted the eyes first.

In short, my left eye got blind and my right eye (which is a good eye) is starting to get blurry. When i heard about the doctor's prognosis, i felt like my world fell apart. My doctor required me to have my check-up at least once a week and aside from that, minimize the activities that i usually do per day. Now here's the thing: Im a graduating student, dealing with lots of deadlines. Put yourself into my shoes. One physical activity per day won't work for me. I don't even remember what my doctor told me after that. I eventually burst into tears eventhough lots of patients are watching me. Right at that very moment, i realized some important things in life. I realized how important every part of my body is. I also realized how important it is to finish college and help my parents in the future.

At that point in my life, I decided to talk to GOD. At some point, i felt guilty. To be honest, im not the typical catholic who goes to church every Sunday and pray the rosary. I pray only when needed or whenever I feel like doing it. So you see, I talked to him. I asked forgiveness on my wrongdoings. I thanked him for the blessings that he showered me for the past 18 years of my life. Lastly, I talked with him about my disease. It's in a form of a conversation between a parent and a child. After talking with him, I realized another important thing in life: GOD answers our prayers and He will never let you down.

After two weeks of treatment, I found out that my eyes reacted well on the medicine and there's a big improvement in my vision. If this will continue, shorter treatment will be required for me to recover from this disease.

You see, GOD find ways for us to connect with Him. I look at my disease differently than before. I look at my disease as GOD's way of connecting with me. I can say that now, things have changed for the better. I became closer not just to Him, but to the people that I love. I became more contented and happy with what I have. It feels so good to be back in GOD's arms. I know this is a good start for self improvement. Im very confident that with GOD by my side, nothing is impossible.

I got really pissed yesterday when we discussed about the President's speech. My prof felt betrayed because some of my classmates copied blogs from the net and used it as their reaction paper. I'm really angry with them because my reaction is SO ORIGINAL! It was hard for me to keep the balance of my reaction towards the speech. The whole room was very quiet when my prof spoke her heart out about the whole situation. I was very disappointed because the mistakes of others became our mistake. I don't know if COPYRIGHT LAW really exists.

In my opinion, It's okay to get idea from articles in the internet. You can make your own statements but never copy the whole thing. You're not just insulting your mentor, you're also insulting yourself. Never make it as a hobby.

Last Sunday was the best day of the month. I did some things that i missed doing when i was a child. Since it's my dad's birthday, we decided to visit church as a family. Well yeah, I can say that it's like the first time after a long time. We're not use to visiting church altogether. We do pray but they said it's more effective to talk with Him when more people are involved. As I connect with God, it felt so light, as if my problems are washed out just in a snap. The heartaches disappeared. It's really true that GOD listens to our prayers. Prayers can surely move mountains.

Out of boredom, I decided to look at my baby pictures for fun. As expected, I noticed a big change with regards to my facial features. I think I look cuter when I was a child. If I could turn back time, I would like to live my childhood years again. All you need to worry about is sleeping, eating and playing. Every experience is a learning process. Everyday is a new discovery. As I became older, things got more complicated and decision making became harder. Now, I really want to be a kid again. For sure another chance to experience my childhood would be interesting!

student by day, stage manager by night

Being me is not as easy as it seems. Think about it: I wake up early in the morning, grab a bite, go to school, finish class at 8/9PM and then attend the theater rehearsal til 12MN. It's the same old routine from Mondays-Saturdays. Talk about not having my social life! You see, i'm stuck in being a student and a stage manager. And you probably are wondering what a stage manager is. Let me give you some info for you to understand my work better.

Stage management is the practice of organizing and coordinating a theatrical production. It encompasses a variety of activities, including organizing the production and coordinating communications between various personnel (directors, performers, prod staff, etc.).
The venue for the practice, the schedule of the rehearsals/show dates are pretty much the things that are visible in my "to-do" list. Not to mention the troubleshooting to be done when personal problems come into way. It's so obvious that being a stage manager is hard but what if you also have school work to keep in mind.

That's like the biggest dilemma. There are time when it's hard to keep the balance between school and work. When the show is fast approaching, you got to give extra time and effort to the practice and some important stuff. You have to be sure that even the tiniest problems are solved before the directors find out. Aside from that, you gotta keep up with your grades or else, you're DEAD!

With all of the things that i've said, i'm sure all of you are wondering why i'm still here. You know why? When I became an SM, I learned the true meaning of DISCIPLINE. I also learned to be better in solving problems and in managing my time. My experience as a stage manager became my foundation in my On-the-job training. It can also be a training ground for people who wants to be successful in any field that they want to pursue in the future. I know for a fact that with the things that i've learned inside the theater, i am ready to do any tasks ahead of me. I know that with these things, i learned to become not just a responsible student but a responsible individual.

remake my work for what?

For the first time ever, my own work was criticized (in a bad way) by my prof. She said that my work is trash. I don't see anything wrong with my concept or even the script. She's comparing my work with her own life which is definitely wrong. I felt really depressed after the class. Good thing i got my friends who are always ready to back me up. I love you so much guys.

Basically, my concept is about a girl who is undergoing a psychological problem. The girl is a nymphomaniac and the story revolves around her and what caused her to be like that. I see nothing wrong with informing the public what nymphomaniac is. I based my work on what i see in the environment. I see no harm with my work because all I wanted is for my audience to see that sex is not just a thing you do for fun. Second, the way we act depends on the people we deal with everyday and what kind of community we live in. I want my work to be an eyeopener for the masses. Let's just be realistic that the western culture influence us a lot. It breaks my heart because I didn't get the opportunity to defend my work. I felt helpless and stupid because of her fearless comments. :( I know that I should give justice to my work. How can I do it if she wanted me to remake the story.?

Sex is strictly prohibited on our scripts. I hate her knowing that she is limiting our talents. I know that bad comments will make you stronger but i'm hoping that it's in the right place and time. Im not immoral, im just being realistic. I hope that next time, she will get the real concept of my work. If she knows what the theory of reasoned action is, she will definitely understand my work and how i constructed it.

War of the World (a film review)

The movie is definitely good. For a typical viewer, they may look at the movie as a masterpiece but for some, the movie have some cliche's which can be considered bad points for the film. With regards to the synopsis of the film, I can say that it's a stereotype man vs. alien kind of movie. Man fighting for survival against aliens is something that we usually see in the cinemas. I also observed that the latter part was very predictable. Of course, Spielberg wont let his lead actor die, right? With regards to the technicalities of the film, I would like to give props to the cinematographer and the film editor. They showed us the prefect example of advanced technology. They did well with the photoshop specially with the robot-like aliens. They made it look like as if the aliens are live in the flesh. The finishing of the layers of the film was magnificent. The scene where the soldiers hand-in-hand to defeat the aliens is really powerful. It seems as if i'm watching war between America and Iraq! (LOL) I would also like to give props to the wardrobe and make-up department. Their choice of style/outfit gave realness to every scene. The sound effects were scene appropriate so that's plus points for the movie.
overall, i give the film 4/5 stars. It would surely stand out on the digital film category. On a deeper notion, I think the film missed out on some few parts specially on the storyline. With that being said, it shows that Spielberg met the audience expectation. It's a must see for all ages!

The musical play Ikabod is based on an ancient belief that rats are souls trapped in transition before evolving to a next life level; that of becoming humans. These rats have to arrive at a certain realization before being allowed to enter the gates of higher being.

However, hilarious as it may be, the guardians to these coveted gates are cats! And so it has been told that cats chase rats in order to ward them off from entering the gates, to adhere to the order of allowing only three rats (sorry, souls!) to enter humandom only once a year, on a full moon. Countless number of rats race to prove to the cats their worth as deserving of the cross-over.

Ikabod, a restless and discontented rat with an attitude, does everything to prove himself to the cats. The conflict and humor ensues when Daguita, Ikabod's femme fatale rat girlfriend, presents another point of view.

Contemporary as it may be, this play presents the classic ideals and values, including the choices we have to make in life. Laced with Original Pilipino Music, immersed in rock and roll arrangements, the play presents a light, almost whimsical, and hilarious treatment that will give its audience a careful check on values, existence and purpose. What else can be better than presenting this with the beautiful lyrics of familiar music to our sensibilities as rats (sorry, humans!).

Hmmm .. today is just another typical day for me. I went to school to start the first process of registration. As usual, i was caught in the end of the line because I came very late to school. I'm really worried bout my grades because some of them are not so pleasing to the eye.. (you know what I mean). Another thing that I really hate about enrollment is seeing the students who failed complying with their requirements; and friends who transfer to another school because of failing. I really hate it when there's nothing you can do to make them stay. :(

As I walk to the hallway, I saw the worst dean ever, looking so flashy as if she's going to a party or something. I really hate that walking corpse! haha .. I can imagine the next school year with her. For sure, even the incoming first year students will not stand her! For your reading pleasure, i will give you more info about her:

She really loves it when she sees a student fail or when someone drops out of the course.
She loves it when the students agree to her plans and visions even if it will not help anyone but her. As a dean, she hires people who are very close to her and who are willing to make your college life a living hell.

She likes to be seen on TV (NOYPI channel 2 :)) )
She is pro-herself, not pro-student .. (if theres sumthin like that)
She looks like a living corpse! ( believe me! haha!)

Just imagine what it feels like seeing someone that you really hate (ex: my dean) when you are enrolling yourself in monster school with bunch of devilish registrar people ... what a perfect class A thriller isnt it? :)

If I wasn't a broadcasting Major, I probably be a culinary Student. I'm a frustrated cook since I was 6 . I can still picture myself as a kid when I was so excited to have the pan in my hand. Well, you can connect my obsession in cooking with eating. For you to know the real story, let me give you a look back on the days when I started to love making dishes. I was in grade 2 when I became curious with what I eat. Not that calorie count or balance diet curiosity but what's in the food that makes it delicious!

When I was 7, I learned to cook a perfect egg. It was such an accomplishment because it's really hard to keep the yolk in the middle. After the egg, i tried filipino dishes. I was in grade 5 when I learned to cook adobo. It eventually become my specialty since everybody loved it! I also tried learning dishes from other places. Here in the Philippines, the use of coconut milk as one of the main ingredients is a must. Later on, i tried out dishes with the use of coconut milk and surprisingly, everybody loved it! I also tried party dishes, baking, grilling, etc. I pretty much knew the basic and even some complicated things to keep in mind while cooking.

When I entered college, I had a little twist done with my cooking. Since the Philippines is experiencing recession, (LOl) I tried inventing budget-friendly dishes without sacrificing its taste. Imagine a 1-kilo tuna spaghetti worth 200pesos? I bet it tastes much much better than the pasta dishes that our school cafeteria offers. I also tried cooking some beef, pork and chicken recipes that my family adored. I can confidently say that yeah, im good with what I do. :)

It's obvious that im enjoying two different worlds at the same time. It's like looking for a connection between a pan and a paper. Or even linking a pen and a spatula. But even if it's hard to keep the balance between the two, I sure do enjoy living on both worlds. With these in mind, im planning to attend culinary school after graduation. I hope that's possible!

They say that being a teenager is hard. What they don't know is that it's much harder for teens who have "extra pounds" on their belly. A normal teen would complain about acne, love problems and peer pressure. A not-so-normal teen like me would think of other stuff like my physique, bullying, etc. It's really hard to undergo this stage when you have lots of things to deal with.

Everything got more complicated when I entered college. Aside from adjusting to the new environment, you also have to adjust on the people around you. On the first days of classes, I used to get attention in the school's hallway not because i'm pretty/fly but because I don't look like the normal type of teen you see regularly. In some instances, when we're asked to do physical stuff on our Physical Education subject, it's really hard to keep up with the activities because of my extra pounds. As days go by, things become complicated than usual. More problems entered my way, not to mention the boy problems which is considered just a side dish in a plate. Some teenagers who are dealing with the same problems like mine have this idea of settling for less because they have no option. With these problems in my hand, I learned to face and solve it one by one with the help of no one but myself.

These problems made me realize that there are more to life than these things that we usually see. Talk about the inner beauty. Having a self-check once in a while to know yourself better. Undergoing this stage in my life made me realize what's important in life. I learned to love myself more and be proud of who I am. I became stronger in handling problems and became wiser in making decisions. I became a good decision maker. I found out that in every problem, there's always a solution. With every solution, there's always an option. Never think that having extra pounds is a disadvantage in life. Better yet, accept and love who you are for people to love you in return. When you learn to be proud of who you are, for sure everything will follow.

Being active during the campaign of my cousin is fun.It's one way of connecting to people form other places within our city. I also gained new friends form different walks of life. In a way, the bond between me and my other relatives became stronger since most of us participated on my cousin's campaign. Because of this experience, I realized that there's more to our city that meets the eye. I became aware of the problems that our city is facing since it is being tackled during the speech of the candidates during their meetings. Above all, it showed me how my cousin really love to serve Makati City. It's a fact that she is a very trustworthy councilor. I know she will be a big help for the people of Makati.

Pre-marital sex

Some say that it’s a total “NO- NO”. Some think its something to do for fun. Some
teenagers think its normal why others lack knowledge about it. Because of this topic, a question popped out of my head: Is premarital sex normal on our society or is it something compared to a mortal sin?

In the United States, about 74% of the teen population thinks that premarital sex is
normal. It’s like something to get over with. Knowing that America is a liberated country, I was not surprised with the statistic at all. As I browsed up the internet, I found out that individuals from 13-19 yrs. old are fond of doing this act. Think about it, if children/ teens from America is doing it, there’s a big possibility that they can influence the Filipino children. Scary isn’t it?

Now, it made me think deeper … If we do premarital sex, can we benefit from it?
Premarital sex experience benefits us both physically and psychologically – conducive to health, because of the urgent need, not towed until adulthood. According to psychological studies, it shows that the organs of our body become mature because of hormone secretion. Psychologically, people will, accordingly with the changes, have sexual desire, which is normal. If the desire cannot be satisfied, it will affect people’s work, learning, and life.
However, it varies according to different people – some are very strong, and some are very weak. When people are with a strong desire, the so-called “sexual energy”, they can temporarily alleviate the sexual energy produced by having sex, which can give them a happy feeling, and a sense of achievement.

Premarital sex in general have occurred in the students and those without a stable source of community among the youths. They have sex because sex is something curious for them, and they will not be responsible, or in any obligations. When the sexual desire is gone, and something unexpected happens, some of them have the psychological fear and inferiority. Because premarital sex occurred in the majority of those who lack the knowledge of sex and experience, they may be pregnant after having sex, which may do great harm to these women physically and psychologically. Some of the disease once infected, there is no way to treat the disease, such as AIDS.

I think premarital sexual experience has pros and cons, and by and large, the benefit of premarital sex is far less than the disadvantages. It’s still up to us if we will do it or not. In my opinion, premarital sex is something that we should not be doing because sex is something to be done by couples who got married. However, I know that some people are against my belief. People have different mindset and I totally respect that. Up to now, how to solve the problem of premarital sex behavior still remain an arduous task and a problem for us to tackle.

Aside from my family, the people that I can't live without are my friends. They are the people who know me the most. Imagine a foundation of a friendship that's been around for 8years? We sure have lots of experiences down the memory lane. They have been my confidant during those depressing times. They became my cheerleaders when i'm about to give up on something. Most of the time, knowing that they are there to make me laugh is enough reason for my day to be complete. Can you imagine your life without your friends? It's like losing the other half of your body. A reminder to all: cherish your friends and be good in picking them. With the foundation that we built for years,I can say that our friendship will continue til eternity.

I had a great time in school today .. As usual, the schedule had been changed again and again .. I dont even know the real and permanent schedule because whenever I see the bulletin board at school, it always has different sched everyday. It seems like there is no use for us to look at our COR . Well, I just have to adjust to the schools wrong doings .. *LOL :))
I saw my crush on the other section. He's HOT! I don't even know his name because he's new in school and his name doesn't matter anyway . As long as he looks like that, I have a reason to enjoy studying at UMAK .:))

I had a great time listening to our prof. about the rhetoric theory and whatever revolves around it. In the early years, they believe that it doesn't matter if you make sense or not, what matters is if you speak well. Imagine having an argument with a person who doesn't make sense ? Pretty challenging ayt ? i believe that being rhetoric is not good. Rhetoric individuals and idiots enjoy the company of each other. I learned that it's okay to be rhetoric when you're just fooling around but when we apply rhetoric on serious debates, it will make you look like a fool!

Eloquent people are said to be the kind of people who has the speaking ability that can awe the audience and everyone who listen to them. These are the kind of people whom we are attracted to because they had this flowery tongue that can catch our attention. One of the best example of this so-called eloquent (rhetoric) people are guys (men) who love to complement us .. in tagalog, MGA LALAKENG MAMBOBOLA! When you deal with this kind of individuals, arguments will lead to bigger arguments and that's how it willl always be. You will never have the right answer to your questions neither will have solutions to your problem.
No wonder girls cry alot when their rhetoric bfs left them for another woman. Well, guys are naturally like that.

Nowadays, guys are so rhetoric. They allure all of us with their speaking ability and after that, we start to fall for them. When we are blinded by love, it doesn't matter if our loved one make sense our not, the only thing that matter is LOVE, LOVE LOVE!!! Girls should get smarter nowadays. In whatever we do, we should settle for things that make sense. Never waste your time getting involved in a relationship with a dumbass. From now on, find someone who is SO NOT RHETORIC! That's one way of keeping your life healthy and happy .. *LOL

My title explains everything. For those curious individuals out there, (peace) my blog is all about my brother, being circumsized. As usual, everyday is a boring day for me. My brother becomes a man! wahaha ! and I am the one helping him to eat, take his medicine and ... (do i really have to say the yuckee part? :) .. I feel like I am a caregiver who doesn't have a monthly salary. Im doing all of this for free. :)) . Its really hard to see my brother in pain. I can imagine what it feels like to suffer from the pain of being a man. wahaha .. good thing, monthly periods dont hurt like that. Me, being a couch potato for two or three weeks? that's gonna drive me crazy!
